Our Commitment

CalmChat is built on a foundation of privacy. Your wellness data is deeply personal, and we treat it with the respect it deserves.

Data Storage

All your data — conversations, journal entries, memory facts, and settings — is stored locally on your device using Apple SwiftData. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is encrypted with your Apple ID and stored in your personal iCloud account.

We do not have access to your data. There is no server-side database storing your personal information, conversations, or health data.

AI Conversations

When you use AI chat features, your messages are sent directly to Anthropic (Claude AI) for processing. In Gas Saver Mode (enabled by default), only the last 4 messages and up to 3 relevant memory facts are sent. Anthropic does not use your data for training.

HealthKit Data

CalmChat can optionally read heart rate and heart rate variability data from Apple HealthKit, and write mindful minutes when you complete breathing exercises or meditations. All HealthKit access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

Data Collection

We collect minimal, anonymized data:

  • App crash reports (via Apple)
  • Anonymous usage analytics (if you opt in)
  • Subscription transaction data (processed by Apple)

We do not collect: names, email addresses (unless you contact us), IP addresses, location data, conversation content, health data, or any identifying information.

Third-Party Services

  • Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes AI chat messages
  • Apple — App Store, iCloud sync, HealthKit, Sign in with Apple
  • Vercel — hosts this website (anonymous analytics only)

Your Rights

You can at any time:

  • View all stored data within the app
  • Export your data as JSON
  • Delete all your data permanently (Settings > Privacy > Delete All Data)
  • Revoke HealthKit permissions in iOS Settings

Children

CalmChat is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
